In the middle of such abundant nature, with many species of plants and animals around you, it is an adventure to go trekking on and around the island.
Go trekking early in the morning, when it’s not so hot, and see lots of different animals waking up, or go at night, and notice them looking for good spots to take some rest.
If you like trekking in groups, keep silent, to allow the animals to get really close to you. Don’t be afraid to go off the path on Ilha do Guajirú, just watch out for the green leafed burning nettle, they can burn you for around 5 minutes, not so nice.
But for the rest, there is little to watch out for, simply relax, enjoy your trekking and see nature everywhere around you.
To explore Ilha do Guajirú, a nice trek can take from 1 to 3 hours, depending how and where you go.
You can do tours of the upwind section of the islands interior (upwind of Praia da Barra) or on the downwind section of the islands interior (inland from Praia do Guajirú), both are very diverse and attracting.
Don’t forget to make a stop at a local bar for a drink, it’s good fun to have a chat with the islands fishermen! |
